table versus tabless design

i see alot of nice sites out there exported straight out of photoshop, illustrator or whatever completed in a matter of minutes. but i'm more of a tabless designer and it can sometimes take me forever switching from browser to browser , creating different styles sheets for each browser and so on. since i'm more code oriented i cant imagine how a programmer even designs a website with tables (of course their doing it from the wusiwug screen) but when it comes to time insert server side code and you have like 10,000 lines of tr's and td.. how do u they do it?? although it is up to my preference is it worth switch to designing with tables? what is your opinion?

Personally, I refuse to use tables for actual layout. Divs and spans for design with some nice CSS. IMO tables are best reserved for presenting data.

yes, same here, i oftenly use tables unless i will be representing some data.

depending on the programmer on what code he will be inserting. If i will output some data from the database to a particular column this is the way im outputting it.

We can also insert script outside html tags or even outside the starting <html> tag.

Tables are usually used by people who simply don't understand how the floats work in css, or they are using a wysiwyg editor as mentioned. I would always stick to css for the layout and tables when they are needed for data presentation. Tables also really screw with any form of screen reader or other device.
