In need of a web designer

Hey all,

I find myself in need of a web designer to do some HTML work for me and need some recommendations. Does anyone have a designer that they have used in the past who they wouldn't hesitate to recommend? If so, let me know :-)

The job is purely HTML/CSS - no PHP or fancy technologies needed.

Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post their details here for whatever reason.

Thanks,
Alan.

Is it paid? If so, pm me with the offer as I'm in need of some extra money right now. I'll be able to do it by sunday night if you're quick with the pm. I've done plenty of html & css, the code is clean and easy to follow. XHTML & CSS2 valid + tableless design will be provided.

It is a paid job. We'll be putting the spec together next week at some point so I'll pm it over to you when it's finished.

Do you have any example sites or a portfolio that I could take a look at?

Alan

Why not learn it yourself? Not a hard language, I learned it WITH CSS fully, in about a Week.

Haris 02-01-2008 11:51 PM

PM sent!

Thanks! :-)

I guess if you didn't have time to learn a simple language, but yet have time to learn a verly easier yet some what harder language like PHP. Lol

It's a difference between knowing how to do it, and doing it with style. The markup implies quality in the first place, because others are supposed to work with that code. And if the markup is bad, then all the website is going to be shit (and I mean viewing it will be a pain in the ass, SEO will be very bad, this kind of stuff). It's like anyone can write code. Some can write code that doesn't work at all, some can write bad code that works, but only a few write quality code that works.

I did. None are pro, unfortunately(I am not saying mine are, however).

ETbyrne 02-06-2008 04:25 PM

Well, I do get paid so it can't be that bad. ;-)

Wow, go away for a week and this thread went crazy :-)

Orc: I don't want to learn HTML for the reasons that Xenon posted - everyone has their specialities :-) For example, if I want some Crystal reports written for an application (a common occurance in my business) then I hire a Crystal expert rather than do it myself. As much as I would love to learn Cyrstal, HTML, Java, and much more, there is only so much time in the day and each minute spent learning something is time I could have spent working and earning money :-)

To everyone else: Thanks for the links / PMs, not sure when I'll be needing a designer now, possibly this coming week but it'll more than likely get pushed back to the following week - I've made a note of everyone's portfolios anyway for future reference :-)

Whatever, HTML is too easy.. Never heard of Crystal. Java, I would understand why you would hire someone.
