CSS 3.0 on the Horizon

It's just a damn shame we're not going to be able to use any until the year 2020 when Microsoft finally update Internet Explorer to support CSS 3. Then we'll have to wait another 30 years for them to fix all the bugs to make CSS 3 a viable option.

However, with that said, it is shaping up to be both an important release, and a worthwhile release. It seems to make zebra patterning so easy as well!

What are your feelings on this?

Can't wait!

How will they release it? Will they announce it somehow and would Firefox have to update the browser to make it work?

God I hate IE with passion, stupid Microsoft...

I'm looking forward to multiple backgrounds, and some others things...

Wildhoney 11-06-2007 12:01 PM

Yea. Every single browser out there will need to release a new version to compensate for CSS3. That could be a problem! Firefox already supports a lot of CSS3 by prepending -moz-.

Gurnk 11-06-2007 12:40 PM

I can't wait for multiple backgrounds. :D

Andrew 11-07-2007 05:33 AM

Yeah, I think all of the coders are waiting mostly for the multiple backgrounds. Even before they announced it, I was secretly wanting that feature. Even thinking about using multiple backgrounds makes me excited. Hopefully, MS will catch up with standards before it's released. Not likely, but one can hope, right?

Wildhoney 11-07-2007 01:12 PM

There's always hope. It'd be nice if IE did keep up just for once.

maZtah 11-07-2007 03:33 PM

Multiple background would, indeed, be a very neat feature. I also can't wait for the multi-column layout!

CoryMathews 11-08-2007 04:26 AM

thats why ie has reads your comments placed on a page so you can have multiple sheets.. its their way of being able to slack off and get away with it.

but css 3 probably wont change as much as 2 did simply because ie's got the 70% usage still.

Jmz 11-08-2007 10:18 PM

I'm looking forward to it :p

I have a feeling the next IE will support CSS3 but IE7.5 or 8 or whatever stupid number they decide to use will be designed by the people that designed Office 2007, so, it's gonna look basically exactly like office 2007.

iamSam 11-11-2007 06:52 PM

I personally cant wait for it with the multiple backgrounds. the main problem will still be cross-browser functionality, and with microsoft trailing behind still i doubt it will be majorly used anywhere.
Like Adam said above every browser will need to fetch out a new released for PHP6, i think they should be launched fully at a similar time :O

The only reason cross-compatibility ever came around comes down to the coder's fault, coder's made many faults so browsers were changed to compensate for the mistakes, if anything, it's the brower's fault for allowing mistakes (mainly firefox)

I'm confused.

Why would browsers need to release anything to compensate for a server-side language update?

Wildhoney 11-12-2007 05:32 PM

Was a nasty typo! I've corrected it, meant to say CSS3 :) !
