No no, post it for sure Many people won't use frameworks for one reason or another so an article on rolling your own database abstraction layer is definately needed

On a side note - would you recommend Zend over other frameworks for RAD?

I used to use CakePHP a lot but then switched to Zend Framework. For true RAD or for prototyping applications I'd recommend CakePHP. For more power, flexability and control, I would recommend Zend Framework.

I can't really speak for others like CodeIgnitor as I've only ever glanced at them.
