I think that image gallery would be great. But a CMS would be really awesome too.. so .. :P

Not project tools anyways.

I can guarantee you a CMS is a bad idea, it is a sure failure because it is so big and could take as long as a year (yes, a year) to complete. I went through this before.

I think an AJAX based photo gallery that you could put into any HTML page would be pretty awesome...

Yea, I'm leaning towards image gallery because it's simpler.

It'll be really simple to complete a usable base system, and provides more than enough opportunity for expansion. If everybody committed now is still committed in a year, you could easily go from a very rudimentary system to a very feature rich expandable megalithic structure.

I like to go with all as I am choosing Image Gallery. It should be simpler, efficient and featured one on web.

I would love to help out on an image gallery.

Wildhoney should change the forum from "TalkPHP Developer Team" to "Ideas".

Something akin to the Wordpress.org Ideas forum, but for PHP in general; basically a place where people can suggest their brainstorms on PHP applications, and see what kind of response there is. Is there a project already in existence performing this task? Is there demand for it? Barrier to entry? Others interested in helping? etc.

Too late, it's already dead.

Time was the primary issue, we are all doing different things and most didn't have the time for it. I must also admit that I do not know anything about volunteer management (paid employees have to put up with disagreeable decisions) and informal management over the web like this.

Yea, time was the main reason for its rather premature death.

To be honest on my part, things are not too dissimilar now than they were then, I'm still pushed for free time!
