Stackpoole has been a teacher and computer-literacy specialist in the Detroit Public Schools since 1982. He has also worked as consultant, teacher trainer, and a science teacher and as a biology instructor at Eastern Michigan University. Stackpoole has been a recipient of the Master Teacher Award, and the Distinguished air max 2013 men Service Award from the Metropolitan Detroit Science Teachers organization. He is an International Award Recipient of the Edison Foundation, and was selected by his students to receive the Superintendent's Excellence Award for his influence in shaping their academic careers. Stackpoole earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Michigan State University, and a master's in environmental science from the University of Michigan.
