BetDemocracy
I've developed this website as part of an attempt to teach myself web programming and php in particular. Am now looking to try and build a user base for the thing and also get some feedback on both technical design as well as look and feel and basic functionality. Would really appreciate anyone registering and starting to use it. Its all based around UK time so gonna limit people perhaps in different timzones (u'll know what i mean once u use it). At the moment its also pretty sports centric but is intended to cover everything (i.e. people can bet on whether it will snow in the next 5 minutes etc). Let me know what you think and any feedback hugely appreciated either here or directly to webmaster email address on the site:

You can put some explanations for the input items on the place bet page. Samples would be ok too. Start live ones that new people can bet on. The date is in dd/mm/yyyy, a lot of people are more used to mm/dd/yyyy or mm/dd/yy, can be confusing to some.

All valid points. Thanks for that. I hope to eventually add some small help icons to parts of the site specifically the placebet page which would trigger small javascript pop up help boxes to explain some of the terms. The DD/MM/YYYY is very common in the uk but no-one in the US certainly would ever use that format I need to get the DD/MM/YYYY format to show in the date fields as a value and then use javascript to remove them when someone clicks a date input field. Your point about getting some more live bets on their is a good one however one issues which I think I need to resolve is the fact you cant immediately join a collective you need approval which going forward is probably good to make sure users can maintain a collective user base they can rely on to vote on the bets fairly but to start off with people need to be able to join all collectives and start betting immediately so i;m probably going to add that as a setting when someone sets up a collective with "open access" being the default and if they want the option to vet anyone joining a collective that can be set. Thanks for your feedback. I now have 9 users :-)
