I decided I wanted to have some PHP and web developers people review it now although it is only in a BETA stage right now. Here is the link:

Deploy* is basically a customizable project folder creation tool. The best feature, aside from jQuery being built in, CSS resets, and valid XHTML, HTML, and CSS, is the ability to bookmark your deploy. Once you bookmark it you can go back to the bookmark and it will instantly create a zip for you with all the settings saved.

The next big feature (aside from the bookmarking), before it goes 1.0, are jQuery plugins that automatically will be put into your Deploy. This will save me a lot of time because I have noticed I have to go through old projects, try to remember the name, and search the web for plugins all the time.

NOTE: IE6, IE7, and Opera there are some CSS and JavaScript problems. These will all be fixed in 1.0, but for now, the actual deploy script is functional.

As a web developer who is constantly creating new sites, I found this tool very useful.

So basically it provides the basic 'framework' for putting together a new site, structure wise anyways hey?

Could I offer some suggestions for version 1?

Give users an option to have their CSS minified or not, in case they want to edit the reset that comes with the package without having to reformat it first.

Maybe optionally let them enter a title for their site, and have it automagically entered into your index.php or any other sub pages it may create down the road?

What about offering them a basic CSS framework for their layout of choice too? A second page perhaps before they get to the download that has a setup something like, 100 Percent - CSS Layouts: A collection of 168 Grid and CSS Layouts , which would let them choose their basica layout preference, and then include the basic CSS for the chosen layout in the download package?

Just some ideas. Site is looking good, keep it up!

Good idea! Never really thought this, but good one! I know that I just tried out your link you provided and it gave me the Yahoo! resets and it was minified and I wanted it to not be, so good suggestion.

Very good idea also. I actually had this planned for 1.0, but the sub pages it may create down the road gave me another idea. I might add a input box or drop down to put in how many sub pages you would like to create. This wouldn't be hard, and very handy.

I haven't read much about CSS frameworks other then Blueprint CSS (I think that's the name), but I will look into this. I did like the link you provided a lot! I might, with permission from the creator, see If I can include those basic frameworks. This would be much harder to implement because I would have to have thumbnails, so the user knows what he is choosing.

There are a lot of CSS layout sites around like that one, if you run into any problems contacting the owner. Google 'css layouts' and you should find some more, no problem. I'm sure if you find the right person they'll let you use their thumbnails as well.

I'll do that for sure. The basic CSS layouts would be a huge plus. This I could see being a great way for beginning coders also. They could go to this site and have a framework reference and some basic things to get them started (javascript library, CSS resets and layout, and and index page)

One idea I have for you would be on the download page...
Have a simple list of what is included.. a directory tree list type of thing, showing what is in the assembled zip.

Looks good though, I like the simple-ness. Keep up the good work ;D

I would agree with the directory tree listing. It would also be sweet if you offered someone to select their PHP Framework of choice, so they can select "Snappad" or "Zend" and you package the zip for them with the directory structure in place already.

GREAT IDEA! I am going to release this week or next and this will be there. I think I will place it underneath the download button. This would be super handy so when and if you bookmark it and you come back you can make sure all the files you thought were there will be there.

I haven't ever used a PHP framework before (only JavaScript), but I went to the Zend site and it seemed super simple. If most of them are like Zend I think I will include them. It would be very cool to have a option to include PHP frameworks since I am including the jQuery framework.


Side note: Deploy* now includes jQuery WITH or WITHOUT plugins, project naming feature (thanks delayedinsanity), more documentation, browser fixes, and a new design using the same page skeleton. These changes are not up yet.

Features down the road look like:
• sub page creation (you would be able to select how many pages and name them)
• PHP frameworks
• Additional JavaScript Framework's
• CSS Frameworks (delayedinsanity provided a link and I will probably add those as soon as possible after the release.)
• Option for minified or totally uncompressed CSS.

Any other ideas for 1.5-2.0?
