Default New Coding Tutorials Site

Hey guys I just finished coding up a new site:

PHPGFX.com

I would like to know what you guys think and also any written tutorials you have would be great. I'm also looking for moderators to help get the forums active, so if you're interested just say so.

This topic should be in the "Showoff" section of this community, but asuming that it will just be moved i'll already give it a go.

I like the fact that it seems to be 100% selfmade, as well as the forums. Most people find it just too much work to do himself so he downloads one, and thats perfectly fine. But I always respect someone just a little bit more if i see he coded everything himself. (Since i've done the same thing with my website)

If i would be a very serious and nasty guy i would tell you the following:

- The site is very dark, maybe you should keep the outerpart of the website black, bit the inside a lot lighter.

- The only two images i saw were the header and the little icon on the forum boards. People like images (with many colors) becuase they won't have to read the text, they can tell what the button does by just looking at the icon.

- Not much difference between the "content" (eg tutorials) and the footer and stuff. It would make more sense if you would place some sort of colored spacer between them.

But in the end it's a nice website and i hope you will enjoy developing this site more and more :)

Have a look into a syntax highlighter for your code blocks

GeSHi - Generic Syntax Highlighter :: Home - geshi (this forum uses it) or:
syntaxhighlighter - Google Code - have used this in the past

It will make your tutorials on coding easier for people to read and seperate the code from the description.

Sorry to take away but if you want syntax highlighting take a look at CodePress - Real Time Syntax Highlighting Editor written in JavaScript as well

All I have to say is...

Dude, It's hard to see and navigate on your site.

I mean, everything is really nice, it's just hard to get around.

Whats wrong with: PHP: highlight_file - Manual and PHP: highlight_string - Manual

Why use some big clumsy code base when highlighting is build in PHP? Ofcourse theres a problem if you wan't to highlight something else than PHP :P

It wont highlight javascript and mysql, two things you might have in a PHP tutorial.
