Short News/Information about talkphp.
Hello, Talkphp Members
as you might have noticed the servers went down before,
and some of you have, been asking where wildhoney is
and what the future holds for talkphp.
Well, we at the talkphp staff have had a meeting,
Wildhoney will be back soon! in the meantime,
Salathe and i have been promoted to lead the talkphp.
Also what i can say now, is talkphp has a bright future.
We are hoping to start working on new ideas soon.
We have also fixed the problems with are servers,
And everything should be working fine now and hopefully,
no more downtime for talkphp.
Happy new years!
From all of us at,
The Talkphp Staff.

This is all news to me, and I had no part in any meeting about the future of the site nor any decision to give me more responsibility here. Staff, if you want me involved then please talk to me. If you don't want me to be a part of staff activities, I'll gladly step down from moderating (that is literally the entire extent of my involvement here at this time) and let others continue doing whatever it is they're doing behind-the-scenes.

Well, there goes my confidence in this whole thing. Sad, talkPHP has so much potential with I joined.

Just had more downtime... Cut the bullshit codefreek, was anything actually done? Just say what you
know, don't address it from staff when it's just from you. Is anything actually going on here.

I ain't bullshitting you, And no it is not just from me.
I have talked to adam/wildhoney, via email, and he told me
that the servers are fixed and should work fine, and i have emailed him back saying that there has been more downtime since i asked him about the servers, Sadly i have not received a response yet.

That was over 18 hours of down time. How on earth, in this day and age, can any web server be down for so long? Heck a $5/year shared hosting provider would be more reliable than this. The site is struggling enough as it is, without driving away visitors by regular and extended periods of down time.

Yes I must say the downtime has shocked me somewhat, at work we usually get worried about a few minutes of downtime on our sites!

Am sure most sys admins would by now have had a long chat with their Managers regarding web server downtime..
Please change provider, or get it sorted out properly before people vote with their feet and talkphp's reputation goes downhill more...

My boss uses Webfusion and we had a significant outage..
http://forums.theregister.co.uk/foru...on_fire_alarm/
What hosting company does TalkPHP use ?
Am thinking maybe they have a lot of fire checks :D

A traceroute seems to indicate we are on http://www.choopa.com/. At least I know one more host I will never go with.

It may not be the host if the site is on a dedicated server or VPS. It looks like Choopa offers managed and unmanaged. If it isn't managed and the server goes down then the host isn't going to do anything unless asked/paid to do so.
