TalkPHP IRC: Come and join us!

Nothing formal, nothing too untoward, a little chit-chat, no Facebook, and perhaps the odd discussion about PHP.

The reason we believe you'll want to come along and talk is that TalkPHP IRC loves you. It loves everybody. It's not particular. Everybody needs a hug from time-to-time, and TalkPHP IRC is only too happy to accommodate.

(TalkPHP IRC loves being venerated, deified, idolised and lionised. Nothing is for free in this world, sunshine!)

There is no such thing as altruism, according to TalkPHP IRC. We're inclined to believe in such wisdom.

(Shhh, we don't really believe that! Call it lip service.)

Ok so I downloaded mIRC, how do I connect? I haven't used IRC since my high school days!

Salathe 05-18-2009 02:28 PM

If you installed mIRC correctly, you should just be able to click the irc:// link above.

Wildhoney 05-18-2009 02:29 PM

All being well. Karl tried to connect though and Freenode kept kicking him out because his email address had a dot in it.

Pure madness, they tell me!

Hightower 05-18-2009 02:49 PM

I don't like mIRC so I looked for an alternative, and found ChatZilla. I use Mozilla anyways, and this just integrates nicely. Now I have a bookmark for TalkPHP IRC and whenever it's clicked I get all you guys from ff.

Wildhoney 05-18-2009 02:58 PM

That sounds useful :-)

sketchMedia 05-18-2009 02:59 PM

I'll join you lot when i get home, at work currently :'-(

Wildhoney 05-19-2009 01:09 PM

That you do! :-) If you're kind enough to our channel.

You don't need mIRC if you have Opera :)

If you're not using Opera why not!? It's the best browser on earth!!! :p

Wildhoney 05-21-2009 02:38 AM

Hehe :-( I'm still stuck on Firefox.

I don't mean to start a browser war, but I found Opera was no better than Firefox, especially no quicker. The only useful feature that I found on Opera is it can download torrents, which I don't use anyway so that's not even a bonus.

At least with FF I can install the add-ons I want, and leave the one's I don't want alone.

sketchMedia 05-21-2009 08:22 AM

I do like opera, but firebug makes me stay with FF, just couldn't live without it.

I've been digging Chrome lately. It seems to render pages the fastest for me.

How very dare you sir! Lynx is clearly the bestest!

As for chrome, I'm not too keen on it myself, i like the speed of the JS engine though.

Come on people! I am away for one week and you all abandon IRC. Why is this?
