Help

I am very new to MySql. I have inherited a website. The previous webmaster used a MySql database for news items.

I took a back up of the whole site using FTP, then restored simply by FTP the files back up, but the database now seems corrupt

I have attached a word doc to show the errors I get. it seems as thought the database has duplicated itself

The coding on the web pages has NOT been modified

Desperately need some help here

I have some good news for you, your database is not corrupt. Both errors you are seeing are PHP functions that are being re-declared. This means that there are two of the same scripts being included. Download the site to a separate directory (for reading purposes only) then use a text search program (such at notepad++'s search feature or Agent Ransack) and scan for those function names. That will find you your duplicates and hopefully will give a pattern so you can see how this happened.

I think we need to back up a step here and forget about the errors being displayed in favor of focusing on the issue that has been presented: The corrupt database.

How corrupt has it gotten? Coffee scandal corrupt, or are we talking major government cover up corrupt?

These are things we need to know man.

I have sorted the problem, omehow during the download and subsequent upload many of the php files duplicated themselves internally. By that I mean that the code inside each file was listed twice. Very baffling. Anyway I have deleted the extra cosing and all is (nearly) well

Good to know you got it sorted; just remember, don't be surprised if Michael Moore shows up to create a half assed documentary about your experience with corrupt databases.
