PHP Newbie here !

Hey guys,
Some of you might have seen me around on TF, so I thought I'd pop in and say Hi!

I've just started learning PHP, as I had nothing else to do in my holidays. Hopefully interacting with the PHP gurus here would help me go a long way ^^

I have programmed in C/C++ prior to this though (however I won't call myself a decent programmer, far from it), so hopefully learning PHP won't be too difficult :-)

I'll see ya around.

Cheers

You'll only have a bit of difficulty learning PHP.

Welcome to TalkPHP Amaresh. Good luck! :-)

Hey Welcome to the community :-D PHP is pretty much the same as C++ in a lot of ways :-P

PHP follows a lot of the things C++ does since php is made in C++. You already have a leg up on most beginners.

Actually PHP is made with C and not C++;
[cvs] View of /php-src/CODING_STANDARDS (Scroll down to the 'Syntax and indentation' part) :-)

Anyway, Welcome to TalkPHP, Im sure you can learn alot here 8-)

Ah. Either way knowing C or C++ is a leg up because the two are almost identical, C just lacks a few of the advanced features C++ has.

A nice little pixel art in your avatar, by the way :-) I love pixel art! I've been telling myself I should do it more often, but I don't listen.

PixelDawn 01-15-2008 05:40 PM

Yep, I'm quite in fan of pixel art myself, athough I don't have the patience to sit around for hours in PS with the pen tool =P
