(Re-)introduction

Hi all,

Just wanted to re-introduce myself to you all :) I've been a member here since it started pretty much but as is the way I got distracted by work bits and bobs and promptly forgot about this wonderful forum :)

Was glancing through my e-mails recently and came across a latest news/update e-mail from TalkPHP so here I am :)

A little about me, I've worked in software development for about 10 years now and have had programming as a hobby for some 15 years. I started off way back in the day with Borland C (v2.0) writing addons for a BBS system called ProBoard then went on from there. I now do mainly Windows software development in C++, C# and VB, and occasionally work on web applications with PHP, Perl, ROR, Javascript, and some ASP although web development is still more of a hobby for me rather than a paid job as most of the companies I work for have little or no concept of how web applications can help them.

My current "project" is learning the Zend Framework, building projects, playing with the components, etc - few bumps along the way but so far so good :)

Anyway, to sum it up - good to meet you all and if I can be of any help, please do ask :)

Alan.

If I'm honest, CIT doesn't stand for anything :) When we started our consultancy company we needed a name so we picked about 10 and drew 1 from a hat. CIT Consultants won :) If a client asks we usually say that the CIT stands for "Computer & Information Technology", but in reality, it's just 3 random letters that sounded good.

Lol! How many times have I done that and people inquire as to why - hoping for some profound reasoning. It's like I've used the number 2150 throughout my life for some reason or another. I've no idea why. But I found out a few months ago that the year 2150 is actually the year that the great year ends (aeon) and moves into aquarius. Scary stuff as I'm into all that! But when I began using 2150, truth be told, I have no idea.

Welcome back to the community anyhow :-) ! I feel a bit like BT here (One for the British amongst us!)
