What are your needs?

Take a look at www.atum.com for dedicated virtual hosting. Free trials available w/ packages starting from $39/mo

Also offer custom plans, so do inquire!

Linode for VPS, hands down over the competition. Avoid slicehost like the plague, they're full of promises and no delivery (though to be fair, whenever they make a promise they give themselves anywhere from 6 months to a year to fulfill it, allowing their clientele lots of time to forget they made such promises).

They are not cheap, but I have two VPSs with LiquidWeb and they are amazing. The servers perform great and give everything they advertise. I recently had to run some enormous SQL processes that took hours and it did it great (I had to associate a 830,000 row table of strings to a 7,000 row table of strings). The support is easy to work with and respond very quickly, so fast I never feel like I need to call the phones for a response. http://www.liquidweb.com/

I would personally go with knownhost.com, they offer fully managed services; they're not cheap but with 24/7 dedicated support that will literally install ANYTHING for you (I've needed obscure packages installed in order to finish some applications - I linked them and they installed it, it's not from some list of "supported" packages) and are generally very proactive about keeping your service, blog, or what have you online.

The only problem with managed hosting is that a lot of them can be very reluctant to give you root access to your own box; this is only a good route if you're not very partial to server administration or aren't familiar with basic linux commands, which is all it really takes to do most operations (in cooperation with Google for anything you're skeptical about).
