Where can I find project members?

Heya!

I'm wondering if anyone knows a good place to find members to a web project? It isn't THAT serious so that I would call it business partners. It's something for kicks and joys, and if it becomes a successful site, then great. If not, we've all probably learned stuff from it. So just to clarify, no success no money.

Where can I find project members that wants to have a little hobby project?

Nowhere, no one takes the "we'll make money if if takes off" seriously.

Don't mind him, he's apprenticing under Donald Trump.

That isn't to say he's not right to some extent - you will have a lot harder time finding project members that are willing to commit and take the project seriously under the promise of 'maybe', especially if you don't already know a bunch of coders to use as your primary pool.

Just ask around though, there's people out there. Post here, on other php forums, tweet it and hashtag it #php or whatever best fits the project, basically just ask around as much as possible. You never know.

I speak from experience (although if you want to say I am the apprentice of a billionaire, that fine with me), When I say you won’t find anyone, I mean you won't find anyone competent who is there for the right reasons. You'll get newbies galore and perhaps a few experienced people who are there for their own reasons. If you want a chance at getting free work from well meaning experienced people, you will need a fully written out business plan that logically shows how you are going to make money from that. And even then they are going to want contracts to guarantee their share of the pie should it make profits, keep in mind you could just take all of their work and pocket the money without a written contract.

If it’s just a hobby project like you directly stated it was, no one really cares tbh. Everyone has their own ideas for a hobby project, why would they be more interested in joining yours than you are in joining theirs?

Sorry if I come across as rude, but that is the reality of the situation.

Not disagreeing with anything you say. Just posting in an even lighter shade of grey.

Alright. Then does anyone of you know a good place where I can download(for free) or buy community templates? I have looked and searched but all I find is gaming templates and portfolio templates EVERYWHERE -.- And community templates for joomla, wordpress and all of those. I want a template, not a joomla skin or w.e.

To buy a custom design seems a little overkill for a project I don't even know if it will succeed.

Why not install Joomla or WordPress then? WP takes about two minutes to install; check out the latest tag from svn, create a new db, and you're pretty much already done.

Because WP won't do what I need to create. Joomla will probably work, but I want to create my site from scratch.. I mean, that's what this whole project is about.

Besides, it's kind of ugly to use already existing scripts to create a website like I want to create. I want to create a community for teenagers.

Basically, I want my own scripts so .. thanks, but no thanks.

It's okay if you want to recreate the wheel, that's your choice. :) But I have to jump in and defend the honor of my favorite CMS, and tell you that there's absolutely no way WordPress couldn't do what you wanted.
