T1 or DSL
Sorry if this has nothing to do with PHP but I just have no other to ask.
Which would you recommend for an office of about 15 people who primarily use the internet to submit forms and get reports online and the usual email and office stuff and ftp? If it would be T1 or DSL. Ive been reading and what I have is DSL has more on download and less on upload, T1 is equal. T1 is more reliable since it can only be down for a few seconds. It says the connection is more stable, but I cant find a solid answer on why. Im thinking maybe DSL is better coz we're not hosting anything but if it really is more reliable maybe the T1 is. Am I missing something. Thanks in advance. Im leaning on T1, am I wrong? |
Go OC-192 tapped into a local backbone and torrent like your life depended on it.
No but seriously, I have never used a DSL connection that didn't fuggin p!ss me offffff. But maybe I've been extremely unlucky. |
In a business setting reliability is a must (an absolute must). Go with T1, if you need more speed either get more lines or get a t3 or better line. DSL is highly unreliable and not suitable for anything more important than residential use.
T1 is dedicated bandwidth, the company pulls all the stops to make it more reliable than DSL. The point of T1 is not to have massive speed, but to have rock solid reliability on what you do have. |
Alright, thanks everyone for the input. Im sticking to the T1, for these reasons too. Just finding it hard to explain to the people here why, so thanks for the words, that will really work.
