Default Madoff has been sentenced

Madoff has been sentenced to 150 years in prison for his multi-billion dollar scam project. 150 years is the maximum sentence for his crimes. Even though the bastard probably only has a few years left, it does make one heck of a statement. My only question is will they be able to prove the family was involved (I am quite convinced they were) or will Bernard be the only one to go down.

So he's that old already. Just a thought, spending your younger years in extreme luxury but living your old age (where you probably cant even surf or dance or even drink alcohol) in pison, isnt that a fair trade off? At that age you might be losing your mind from dementia already and you wont even know youre in jail or feel that you are...

I just think it wouldve worked if all his money would be distributed to his victims. That would be a more favorable sense of justice for me. I know little about the law, so where would all of that money go, the government?

If I was an evil person, and I would look at this event... I might conclude that its worth doing what he just did.

But atleast it is of course a good thing that he got caught and was actually convicted. It still shows that evil geniuses can still be put to justice.

Very true. I do believe that the government is trying to get as many assets from them as possible. Most of the money would probably go to the victims, but the government would inevitably take some of it (they are better than Madoff at taking money). Madoff was evil, but a genius, he clearly knew his way around both finances and the law. Getting that money will probably be very hard.

It's sad that such an intelligent man couldn't make a legitimate fortune.

Sadly, Madoff was only one of the many ponzi schemes that is corrupting our government, there really is no stopping the big banking families and oil industries.

Well, a solution exists, but it's to radical for anyone to fully back. (It involves a complete overthrow and a whole social and economic change that would last all of a night.)

I'm not kidding there are plans in the work by groups to overthrow everything in America.

The man stole billions, many people lost everything because of his intentional deceit. The courts were making an example of him no doubt, but any reasonable sentence would have outlasted him so it hardly matters.

There always have been, they are not presenting anything new. I question those people as much as I do the men in place at the moment.

I'm not sure I follow your logic. Madoff's ponzi scheme was done by a private business, the government had no hand in it. I also don't understand how there are "many ponzi schemes that are corrupting our government" nor how that directly relates to banking famalies or the oil industry.

I don't dispute that there are many more corrupt bastards out there, but a ponzi scheme is a specific type of scam that simulates a high return investment.

I see your point. But a young man who gets this sentence would probably get the vast majority taken off an walk within his lifetime.

Be that as it may, it does not justify it nor excuse Madoff in any way.
