Anime and Anime Expo
Not sure if its appropriate to talk about such here but doesnt hurt to try.
Are there any people here who are into such things? Anime I mean. Whats the last one youve seen or whats your favorite?
Theres also gonna be an Anime Expo here in LA, CA. Im gonna be there on saturday July 4. I think its from July 2-5.
The last one Ive seen is "Welcome to NHK". Had it for like years now but never watched it. Its about this hikikomori guy who doesnt go to work or school. He just stays there in his apartment that his mom pays doing nothing. Then this girl came to help him get out of such a lifestyle.
Oh yeah whats anime, its cartoons done in a certain style that originated in Japan.

I often use the term anime to apply to all animation. I suppose that is incorrect? See, I'm not up with my animation terminology. Does it have a certain style? Such as the big eyes.

Well, im really just assuming what an anime is hihihi. But I think it would be somewhat close. One definition I found online is:
A style of animation developed in Japan, characterized by stylized colorful art and often adult themes.
I cant really put the difference in words, but they do look different to me. Some that are popular nowadays I think are fullmetal alchemist, bleach and naruto.
Im gonna post pictures after the expo. People actually dress like these characters for fun and theres gonna be a lot of em there.

I like anime, but I like more manga. But I like bleach, full metal alchemist, and one piece.
I am not an avid fan, I just like the stories they present, the same as with books, graphic novels, comics, movies, tv show, etc... I just like visual representations of stories and story-telling.
I haven't been in an anime or manga expo though.

I like the one piece anime too. I think its my favorite one.
Enfernikus, hope youd have fun. Post some pictures, if its not intruding.
Somehow I prefer visual representations too. Though sometimes books and mangas can carry more details it just takes too long sometimes to consume it. But if I had the time I guess why not of course.
Bleach is nice really, too bad i havent watched it for a long while now.
Bleach is more on sword fighting and One piece is about pirates. As for Full Metal Alchemist, I havent seen it yet really... And Naruto is about ninjas.
Theres like an anime for everything, like baking, cars, bike races and even bacterias to giant robots and spirits. Its just whatever people can think of really.

yeah full metal alchemist is good! plus the movie that is the epilogue of the series. They started with a new full metal alchemist:brotherhood series, that is expands in a period from the previous series, so don't get confused :P. Plus if you want to read it is a good manga too.

I just leaned that our network admin is heading down to LA for it. Thing is that we are in Chicago, thats a little over a 2,000 mile drive unless hes flying (I think he is). This is his fourth consecutive year going, now that is commitment.
As for being appropriate to talk about here, I would think anything except Henati (I'm not googling it at work for spelling) is fine.

Enfernikus, thanks a lot for that. Seems theres more on the site, I found Initial D first stage too and Ive been looking for that specific one for a while now.
The convention center is just right next to a lot of hotels so I guess he'll be staying on one of em and complete the entire expo. Yeah, I hear some people are even gonna be flying from other states too. I wonder if your admin will be wearing a costume. I mean to be that much into it he probably might.

He said that him and his friends who are going are into cosplay, so I would assume so.

Welcome to NHK is nice indeed. One piece is even better (See my icon :D)
I have watched many anime when I was younger (about 3 years ago) I watched about 15 eps a week, no life, seriously... Now I only watch anime that really intrests me:
One Piece
Naruto (can't blame me right?)
Higashi no eden
Higepiyo (ftw)
Thats it I guess...

VillageIdiot, well hope to see em them there. I wonder what costume they'll be in. Me Im just gonna wear normal clothes, wish I can though but no idea where to get what id want to wear. And thanks for the link too.
Enfernikus wow you have a lot. I havent counted really but I believe I am at about 1.4TB of anime now. I stopped getting new ones though, I want to finish moving them to hard drives first. I was really poor back then so I had to use DVDs. Maybe someday we can exchange or something what we dont have.
Yeah NHK is nice, makes me think of things though. I used to be a Hikikomori a long time ago, but thats the past now... One Piece woohoo! Honestly, one thing I want to do before I die is ride a ship thats exactly like the Going Merry. I saw a picture of a real one before
Addendum:
The expo is coming soon its like this weekend already and I dont know what to wear. My coat doesnt seem to match my skirt its annoying me. Either I wear non matching stuff or end up wearing something thats hot. I hate summer... curse the sun and all of this heat. I wish it was a never ending winter all year long. I was supposed to lose 10 lbs for the expo... all I lost was 1lb... cursed cakes. I still have 2 days to go Ill eat nothing but tea for 2 days, drink I mean
