What is the point? Or so I thought......
So I've been here a little while now, and I always see people banging on about how good a framework is, and how it saves them time. So off I trundle and take a look at what they are banging on about. Then I return with the same question as always - "What's the point?". I just can't figure out what the point of using a framework is. The ones I have checked out (major players in the PHP framework area) have seemed pointless to me. They don't do what I would expect them to do, and they have limited documentation. To be honest, I don't even fully understand the M-V-C concept because the documentation provided is so bad......
Until last night! Last night I stumbled across a framework called CodeIgniter (I'm sure all of you have already heard of this), and I fell in love. I mean truly in love. In love as in I could leave my fiance for CodeIgni.... well that's beyond the point :-)
Last night I discovered the true meaning of using a framework, and also discovered a one that wants to help me, not make things harder. I've never used a framework before (mainly because they all looked rubbish to me), but I plan to write my next project using CodeIgniter. I'm so excited! :-P
