Swine Flu

Its been almost all in TV broadcast, radios about this virus that shocked the whole world by its outbreak!

Who knows, in the days to come, you will this virus, ahaha... : ) kidding though.. What can you say about this?

Transmission of swine influenza virus from pigs to humans is not common and does not always cause human influenza, often only resulting in the production of antibodies in the blood. The meat of the animal poses no risk of transmitting the virus when properly cooked. If transmission does cause human influenza, it is called zoonotic swine flu. People who work with pigs, especially people with intense exposures, are at increased risk of catching swine flu. In the mid-20th century, identification of influenza subtypes became possible, which allows accurate diagnosis of transmission to humans. Since then, fifty confirmed transmissions have been recorded. Rarely, these strains of swine flu can pass from human to human. In humans, the symptoms of swine flu are similar to those of influenza and of influenza-like illness in general, namely chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness and general discomfort.

I say its over hyped, it is no more dangerous than any other flu.

That's not too far off anymore, they are ~10-15 years ahead of the general public in technology.

I have to agree with VI on this. The media have blown this out all proportion (in the UK anyway).
Yes it kills but then again so does seasonal flu, thousands in fact!

They seemed to have calmed down a bit in the UK on the ol' swine flu, because of the MP expenses thing going on and ofc Iran.
Rest assured however, when those little pools of 'news' material have dried up they will be sure to return to scare mongering the general populous once more, be it swine/avian/cheese/gibbon/quiche/bat/kangaroo/mouse flu or even the so called 'credit crunch', an issue on which I argue the media did nothing but help to compound.

To be fair, I am genuinely concerned about quiche flu. The others, not so much but that quiche flu sounds like something we simply cannot ignore.

In our side, here in the Philippines, A H1N1 has been exaggerated by media reports as well as other big companies.

They do implement thermal scanner in each doors, though if you try to analyze it, its pretty useless. Having a thermal scanner is just determining whether a person does have a fever or not, but doesn't do much about on preventing that virus.

As of 3 days ago, there were 87 deaths total from the swine flu (in the US). Lets ignore how many normal flus kill per year and go to more common statistics. There 118 motor vehicle related deaths every day in the united states in 2008. So if you worry about swine flu more than you worry about driving in the US, you are by definition irrational

I agree with VI, most of the deaths occur in one's country is not mainly by this flu, but rather in different terms. : )
