I use it everyday at home and have never been disappointed!

Unfortunately its the exact opposite for me. I find it sluggish and rather dim-witted.
The admin permissions business just winds me up, really winds me up with its incessant 'security' popups for
everything you do (yes i am aware that even on the penguin you need to have root to do some things, but vista takes it to a whole new level of idiocy).
Added to the anooyances is the fact it can sit there IDLE and consume about half of my
more than enough for most stuff I used on XP 2gb ram! HALF FOR GODS SAKE!? what on earth is it doing?
Then there is the wonderfully annoying "searchIndexer" that randomly rapes your drives at 3-5 second intervals, for apparently NO good reason.
Then ofc, there is the install of the damn thing.
You sit for hours saying to yourself "has it crashed? whats it doing? its not even spinning or writing the disk for crying out loud! It mustn't of crash tho coz' the spinney thing is spinning, or has it!?" then all of a sudden it will burst into life for a few moments then rinse and repeat the step above.
Then there's the expense, but we wont go there, also added to the 'I wont go there list' is the file moving and copying and even deleting, its barbarically slow! even just a move ON THE SAME DRIVE!
This image makes me laugh everytime i see it (on a more or less dailiy basis i have to add)

(not my screen shot, but I'm at work and i don't use vista here)
There are more things I could add, like the search interface being an utter joke and the networking options are so obfuscated you need a degree to find out how to find the actually settings for things. But, alas! I don't have the time (or the necessary amount of blood pressure pills to recount them all now)
Sorry a mini rant there.
That last Redmond OS I used that was acceptable was XP.
What was the thread topic again?
