Personally, I was not really looking for the beginner parts, but more like topics where different people give different ways of doing it. I enjoy seeing how other developers do different tasks, sometimes you get good ideas from them sometimes you don't. Maybe its not so much as a set of tutorials but an ever changing body of code, with reasons. To name a few topics such as, image manipulation, file uploads, database handling, templating, ect. These common topics.. Someone else grow further from the idea.

That is what the current article system we have in place does, I'm perry sure we have articles on at least a few of those named subjects.

It would be awesome to see article contributions again. The last one published is from 6 months ago! However that would not really involve us working together which was the initial intention of this thread, right? Unless folks want to write tutorials/articles collaboratively (using Writeboard or some such collab. application).

Moving back to the original "big idea"; I think it would suffer from similar problems to the coding project that never happened. There would be too much planning, decisions not being made, and no writing actually being done!

I'm sure many of our regular members (those who might be interested in writing an article or two) have particular areas of expertise, or feel an enthusiasm to write about something they have been diving into. Just write.

I am finding it difficult to find inspiration since I have not programmed a PHP app for more than six months. If something does strike me though I will write about it, I am open to suggestions (specific ones, please).

Sorry guys, I've been really busy the past couple days so I haven't been able to post. I understand what you are saying about not a whole lot of new ideas coming from a beginner tutorial, and I understand that we have articles already. I just thought it would be a cool collaborative beginner tutorial. A couple people have said it's not worth while since there are countless sites out there with beginner tutorials. Why not try to make this place a one stop shop though for beginners to advanced?

It sounds like the idea may have died already. Oh well, it was worth a shot. Maybe one day when I'm feeling more confident I'll write up a tutorial article and throw it up. If nothing else maybe this thread got a couple people thinking about some things that they would be able to write a new article on. :)
