Default ecommerce

So I was just thinking,

who here has ever developed a shopping cart system/ecommerce?

Since a lot of guys here are advanced, I was wondering if you guys would develop a system from scratch or just purchase some off the shelve PHP-based ecommerce system, if you had to do an ecommerce project...

I use Magento, which is a free open-source eCommerce solution. I don't think I'd even attempt such a project on my own.

Isn't it like 3:30AM for you?

Wow, that's a great looking site for a free software.

It sounds Italian, like after I make an italian dish and taste its perfection, I say, Magento!

I would buy a system of that magnitude for ease of use, unless some super-specific use was needed. If a companies needs are common, a paid system is best because they have a team specifically dedicated to that piece of software. They also worry about bugs, updates, and things of the sort.
