MySQL Installation Troubles
I've been in the process of installing my local development server but ran into some trouble with MySQL. It installs just fine but when I try to configure it via the "MySQL Instance Config" it gives me an error saying it could not connect to the server with username 'root' and no password, even though I was in the process of setting a password to that user!
Btw I'm running Vista... First big issue I've ever had with it too... |
UPDATE: It appears as though I can log into the MySQL Command Line Console with my configured password. When I try to log in with PHPMyAdmin and the password it takes a very long time and then displays a blank page. If I don't specify a password I DO get an error saying I could not be logged in...
Perhaps this is a configuration issue with PHP? |
any ideas... please?
I hate to bump this topic (really, I do) but I've got a TON of work to get done on a client's website over spring break... :-) |
Sorry, I don't know anything about Vista ... but this might be of some help:
http://mysql.blic.net/doc/refman/5.0...tallation.html According to the manual 64-bit windows vista is not supported. I found it via a search in google. The query I used was: troubleshooting mysql installation windows vista You can try the same query yourself, as there may be some other helpful resources in the same SERP. Hope this helps. |
I think I figured it out, I installed PHP 5.3 RC1 so I could start working with namespaces. I changed it back to PHP 5.9 and MySQL works now. Perhaps this is why I never use pre-released software? ^^
