Best Place to buy domains?

What's the best place to buy domains? I've been using Godaddy for the past year but it costs $18 per domain to register a domain for one year with privacy protection.

Anyone have any suggestions for a good, cheaper, reliable domain registration service?

namecheap.com
The best place ever!

Their prices are very reasonable:
.com $9.29/yr
.info $2.98/yr
.net $9.29/yr
.org $9.29/yr
.us $8.88/yr

I've heard some things about namecheap.com and I want to stay away from it. Any other suggestions?

What have you heard? What's the gossip? C'mon, spill the beans!

Moniker are perhaps the most reputable, I would say. Although I use Namecheap.

I'm interested to hear what you've been told about namecheap. I have used them for a long time and have no complaints. They are really good, I recommend to anyone.

like I said link above that's all I've heard.

Gareth 08-29-2008 10:39 AM

ETByrne. Those people are wrong. They are no longer an enom reseller, there are an official ICANN distributor. They are just updating their system to be so.

I'll take your guys word for it. I have to take a closer look at their prices first before I decide to buy.

I was about to register a domain on namecheap but then I saw a warning message that said server 4 was under a DDOS attack at the moment and to expect problems with your sites.

Are you guys having trouble with this at the moment?

Wildhoney 08-31-2008 09:55 PM

Is it any better now?

ETbyrne 08-31-2008 10:37 PM

That's what I'm asking you!

I use NameAlerts ($9.95 Domain Registrations, PayPal and Credit Cards Accepted - NameAlerts.com). 24/7 support, they respond to emails pretty quick ... overall just great service, and complete rights to DyDNS and so forth.

I've got over 30 domains with Namecheap at the moment (having had over double that in the past) and I've yet to see any other provider offer anything enticing enough to tease my custom away from there. Namecheap just works great. :-)

30 domains ;) thats allot :)

Wildhoney 10-24-2008 01:53 PM

I've got about 250 domains (using about 3/4 of them) with Namecheap at the moment. Although with so many I am in the process of cutting a deal with Moniker. Which they are more than willing to do.

codefreek 10-26-2008 04:47 AM

Wildhoney, thats allot of payment :P
