Hosting

Ok, since my host is coming around for renewal and I didn't like them much I'm looking for a new one.

Some requirements:
  • PHP5 preferably >=5.2.5
  • Decent amount of webspace + bandwidth
  • >=5 domains
  • Unlimited subdomains would be nice but only really need 50 or so - can always script it
  • 10+ Email accounts
  • Linux w/ Apache
  • >1 Cronjobs

Really not looking to spend tons (current was £20 / year which wasn't too bad) but don't mind spending a bit more on this.

If anyone has any recommendations to share I'd be grateful ^^

Cheers,
Ross

I'm pretty sure I haven't heard anything bad about them

If your looking for a shared host. I seriously recommend HostGator. Time and time again I've tried different hosts, yet I always come back to them. Oh, and the first month will only cost you a penny if you go with their "Baby" plan and use the coupon "jury". It's a good deal.

Web Hosting - Shared cPanel Linux Web Hosting

They are in the US, I don't know if you were looking for something in the UK.

... Are you serious? I would never go for HostGator just because of their history.

At the risk of sounding ignorant. Explain your problems with them.

UK servers would be a bonus, although not essential.

I've heard a little controversy about Hostgator but you get complaints with every service really. I'll have a Google :P

Tempted to go for one of these:

I have heard bad things about Dreamhost's uptime. But as you say, you will get complaints with every service.

Might I also suggest MediaTemple.

I've been with Dreamhost for about 2 years and in all I've been down maybe an hour? My friend is with media template to run a fairly popular site (1k+ uniques a day) and it runs pretty fine.

I use Peachy Dandy - Web Hosting, Software and more! for hosting my site and my client's sites.
Unlimited domains and sub-domains, unlimited MySQL, Linux, .htaccess with Mod_Rewrite, plenty of space and BW, and their customer support is top notch.

mm, <a href="http://www.slicehost.com/">slices</a>.

Never dealt with hostgator, but anybody with a million plus domains is going to get bad feedback. It's when you host ten domains and you have 8 people complaining that there's a problem.
