TalkPHP....
Just wanted to give a shoutout to WildHoney and the crew for doing an awesome job getting these forums up and running. I know it still has a long way to go, but it will get there :) This site is a nice refresher from the usual PHP sites out there. I have been a long time member of PHPFreaks, and the place just doesn't seem very community'ish. They have a tremendous user base and questions get answered rather quickly, but something just feels very much left out there that this place seems to fill. I am not sure what it is... but I like it :)
To the continued success and growth of TalkPHP! And I am happy you decided on this venture of yours WildHoney ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Everyone give there shoutouts!! |
Long way to go? Where's it going?
I've been over to phpfreaks, and it's definitely more of a community feel here. TalkPHP is the small town where everybody knows everybody, and phpfreaks is the supermall where it's everybody for themselves, meet in the food court. -m |
I have been a member of other communities to do with PHP and coding in general and have always been annoyed by the 'holier than thou' attitude had by some of them, starting off PHP coding is a big enough challenge as it is without having their simple questions labeled 'noobish', at TalkPHP however its non-existant.

Thank you :-) ! It means a lot. I wouldn't tolerate any sanctimonious nonsense. There really is absolutely no need for it once you remove the obvious need for some to enforce their own ego.

Anyway rant over, i suppose i'd better do some work. |
Yeah that is true. Lots of 'super ego's over on PHPFreaks. Some of the guys there are great, but it just gets to out of control sometimes.

Thats indeed the best thing about talkPHP, as a beginner you are just as much respected as a skilled programmer.
I just got in a fight here on a Dutch IT forum. People who talk bad about others because they are not that good in something. Can't stand that kind of behaviour :) |
Yeah my biggest problem with people like that is they tend to forget where they came from. They just don't wake up one day and become a master programmer. It takes time. Unfortunately, for a lot of people time = ego and as such as time increases, so does its counterpart.
