I'm big on classic rock, although I like a lot of the rock coming out now. The only genres I really don't like are country, opera and rap.

It's sad to think that in the future somebody is going to look back and call a some of the crap coming out now-a-days 'classic' music. It's all glorified karaoke singers (a la American Idol and 90% of the other musicians who don't even play or sing their own music), "my rich parents don't let me do anything I want so I cut my wrists" emo crap, and the list goes on. Nobody makes music anymore... they have an image built for them by public relations, and they make money singing crap written by a suit sitting at a desk.
Grrr. Sorry, touched a nerve there... music should be sacred. Personally I listen to a lot more DJs now a days then bands, jay cunning, icey, z-trip, coldcut, local friends, not local friends, etc. But I still like a wide variety of what I grew up with.

Delayed, if you want to here real human made music, then start listning to heavy metal, they don't get texts written på some unknowen person, mostly they do everything them self :)
Take Rammstein as an example, i don't know if you know them, but they've started a whole new genre with there music, it's called tanz-metall or dance-metal, you would probaly find it hard to dance to, but it is all educated musicians, beside the one guitarist. But the texts come from the heart of the lead singer, he even published a collection of poems! It is in German, but who cares :D

I've always liked metal, though I can't say much for power ballads... For what's still considered an 'obscure' genre (yeah, just like foreigners in America are still considered minorities) it has some hella talented musicians. I like good old metal. Pantera, RIP dimebag, metallica before they sold out (no, not when they cut their hair, when they sold their souls.. two different times), and so on.

(In order of preference.)
- Post Rock: Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Maybeshewill
- Ambient/Electronica: Orbital
- Indie Rock: Radiohead, Puressence
- Trip-Hop: Portishead, Massive Attack
I also like 80s music, and classical music. At the moment though I am listening to some lovely Russian music. I also get a lot of Argentinian music sent my way.
This is the current Russian song, if anybody is interested. The title is actually in German: "Schweine", IE, pig. It is Russian, however. Lyrically it's more of a love song, but the video, the title, and the counting in German, say otherwise.

Portishead, the best music in history to ... um... well, see, when a man loves a woman, they make babies. If they're smart, they make babies to Portishead.

Nice Man, you would have loved rock on the range in Columbus, Ohio this year :) We broke the record for most people ever at a concert... and it lasted two days :)
