What confused you the most about PHP?

When you first started? For some reason when I looked at PHP and saw all those dollar signs it immediately blanked for me. I came from a VB6 background..where the variables looked like everything else.

PHP was my first programming language so everything confused me. But I think regular expressions confused me the most, but that's not a specific PHP thing.

Arrays for sure!

Indeed, For the longest time when I started, I never really use to understad/see the use of arrays very often at all, and hated working with them.

I <3 arrays now =)

stuff like foreach, list...

I'll go for the $ before variables as well. I came from C/C++ so putting a dollar before variable names just seemed odd.

Coming from a Turbo Pascal background, I remember having quite a hard time to really understand the foreach loop. Funny if you look back at that time now.

For me it was the SQL querys bit and in some cases $_POST $_GET and so forth.
But now i love PHP as a hole.

I tried ASP before getting my hands on PHP, and letīs just say that PHP was the only language for me that made sense.

My hardest part to grasp were OOP.
I came with no prior knowlede of programming

Same here, and $foo->bar instead of $foo.bar due to other language mishaps.

I imagine you came from Java based language Orc?

C/C++, Java, and Python.

I started with javascript and most of everything I've learned from that helped me with PHP, so it was pretty simple until thinking of things to create.

For me, thinking up things to create is simple, cause really everything has been made but yet you want to make them yourself, and I don't know anything else besides using some sort of Flash to create something innovated. PHP & Flash are truly quite the goods.
