Default Safari

wow...Safari is extremely fast compared to IE and Firefox (at least on Windows). And the GMail is not a pain in the ass anymore yay :D (Gmail crashes alot in Firefox with/without Firebug, but not for everybody). I think I'll use it for browsing only (although it has some problems with not correctly opening/refreshing random pages - giving a not found error) What do you think? If anyone uses Safari for Windows, please share the experience.

Never used it myself as IE7 works well for me. I'll give it a try tomorrow, see how I get on.

I've always found Safari to be far too graphic heavy, to be honest. And therefore it's rather slow. In Windows, anyway, when compared to Opera.

Firefox does weird things sometimes. Gmail has been a pain to use since about 2-3 updates ago.

I've been starting to use Opera more and more, but I still have Firefox as my main browser. Safari is nice and works well. I use it on my Windows machine instead of IE. IE is a stable browser to use in my experience, but yea, it does seem slower than Safari.

I've just installed and tested Safari but I won't be using it for the same reason (well, one of) that I don't use Firefox - I don't want to have to press CTRL-T to open a new tab... I don't want to have to File -> New Tab.. I just want to click the tab and type the url

(yes, I'm lazy - but I'm used to my tabs in IE7 )

In Firefox, you can also double-click the tab bar and a new tab pops up.

Depending on the skin, you can also have an IE-like tab function. I am using the Vista Aero theme, and everything is a lot more functional than, lets say the red shift theme.

I don't like safari, everything is laid out weirdly.
Opera doesn't have the web developer tools, so phail.
IE.... PHAAAAAIIIILLLLLL

You can also right click the tab bar in FF to open a new tab.

Personally, I find Safari quite attractive compared to Firefox (I would prefer the Milk skin, however, which is not available. as a matter of fact, it's not skinnable at all atm). The viewport is almost double if compared to Firefox, and I think it's the same size as IE's. The browsing speed is dazzling compared to both (the same as a linux browser - at least for me). And I don't believe it's that "graphic heavy". Plus I love the search function (it's more user-friendly than any other search function of any browser because it simply highlights the matches it finds in the whole page, allowing you to find faster what you are looking for). Plus, the developers at Apple implemented the "show title tag of links" function in 3.0.4 (wasn't there in 3.0.3)

I use Safari all the time, but I'm on a Mac so its a bit obvious. But Firefox, Opera and all other browsers (except Camino which is just too lightweight for me) just suck for mac. Firefox is slow as hell, especially when you use extensions, which is the only reason why you would use Firefox instead of Safari.

And Safari 3 looks hot and fast!

safari is great but loads slow for me. but i like all its little perks. Mainly the way it renders fonts, fire fox and opera can learn from it. But for overall browsing i still stick to opera, its just so much faster.

Apple made a huge mistake with Safari for Windows. They didn't make it feel like Windows. Many Windows users won't want to use it because it's too different from what they are use to.

Probably only developers, Apple users and very few others know about Safari for Windows though.

I have played with Safari. My thoughts are neither good nor bad. It wasn't bad at all.

I personally use Firefox for my daily browsing needs. I have a hard time using a browser (read: IE) that I have to code around pretty often to get a page to work when it works in all other browsers that better support the standards.

Firefox is by no means perfect. I do however use a couple of extensions that I do not want to live without. They are Firebug and the Web Developer Toolbar.

just for you people moaning about firefox being slow (which it is) apparently they have fixed most of the 'memory leaks' in FireFox3 so that should be fast. From initial reports of the FF3 beta, people have been saying its faster and just as fast as it used to be.

i personally hate the safari graphical look, i dont like the gradients it makes it look cheap, and i just cant live without firebug (although there is a firebug for IE etc but you have to include a sodding .js file in your files, which is a pain)

oh and for the record i hate the entire IE range as they all are equally as hateful, and no im not a 'windows fanboy' yes i detest mac's to their core components but i favor a more open source way of doing things and dont even get me started on vista PLEASE.

I agree with sketchMedia, the graphics in Safari are absolutely terrible.

Granted, it's much much quicker than Firefox 2 but it just looks so terrible I can't stand using it
