Default Video tutorials versus text?

Just curious, what do you guys prefer?

I run a tutorial website, and was just wondering about this.

Someone in another post mentioned that people often like video tutorials better than text ones.

I personally hate video tutorials because you can't skip around easily and they take a while to load. Whenever I click a link to a tutorial and find out that it's a video I exit out right away. But thats just me...

It's definitely text tutorials for me. When reading you're given time to contemplate on the information that's being thrown at you, because you can pause whenever you like. Although the same is true in videos, you tend to become more apathetic when watching videos and thus hitting pause constantly is somewhat of an annoyance.

My order of preference when trying to learn something new would be:

1) Being shown face-to-face
2) Text tutorial
3) ...all the other types of tutorial...
4) Video tutorials

I'm very much like you, I just can't seem to stay focused when watching a video tutorial - I like to flick about between sections and particularly like to be able to print the tutorial and read it on paper.

Alan.

Usually you get some droning voice though going on and on and on.
