So, how many of you use a popularized framework (CakePHP, Zend, Seagull etc) or use your own?

I use Zend Framework from time-to-time. Although I usually just take part of it and include it with my own work as an external library - depending on what I require. That's what's good about Zend Framework, because it is relatively loosely-coupled, you can take parts out of the jigsaw to use in your own, all because they have very few dependencies.

I've heard some good things concerning the Zend Framework,

on a site note. I was looking at benchmarks against an unnamed template parser (evidently it just replaced variables) and Smarty and all though Smarty's parsing is much more complex it beat the simple parser by about 150%

does anyone have any experience with the code ignitor framework? ive been looking for a framework to simplify the development process on my future projects. from the website it looks like a nice stable framework but id like to have some feedback from someone who has used it in the past...

I've used CakePHP for a while now on many projects, works well and lets us get off the ground quickly.

Just starting to take a look at the Zend Framework now and am using it for our latest project. So far it's looking good.

trs: Never used Code Ignitor I'm afraid but I can highly recommend CakePHP and probably the Zend Framework in future :)

I have used Code Igniter on a couple of projects and like it a lot. It is easy to set up and seems pretty stable. There are some decent libraries available for it also. It does not have the function set of some of the more established frameworks (read: Cake PHP), but has plenty to get you by.

The forums are pretty decent also.
