Default What you getting for Christmas?

I know Karl's got me a book called The Shock Doctrine - nice video of what it's about on their website. But apart from that, I have no idea what I'm getting! Aside from the kidlings, we stick to a £3 limit else Christmas gets silly - and we have to be creative!

Karl'll be reading this but still, I couldn't get him the book I was after so I had to get him a random book Hopefully it'll expand his mind a little!

What is everybody else getting?

I'm going to get myself a treadmill.

And later some books.

That books sounds interesting - Naomi Klein occasionally writes for the guardian doesn't she? Thanks for the idea - think that book would make a good present for someone I know :)

I have no idea what I'm getting - probably a PS3 game (hopefully!) :D

No clue. Didn't ask for anything, and anything I want is too expensive to expect. Although I did just win a book off eBay for $0.99. W00t!

I guess we aren't having any Christmas WITH gifts. Simply without. A nice diner, family's coming over. We did have gifts last year, but this year they went with the old 'Sinterklaas' tradition. Kinda the same as Christmas & Santa, but simply without all the atmosphere imho.

Lost Series 2 is fantastic, definitley recommended! I notice you're from Leeds, I moved from Leeds a year ago after 19 years to live on the yorkshire coast (Bridlington). Small world.

My family bought me an X-Rocker for when I jam out on my xbox360 or PS3, I'm really itching to play in style!

Most likely a copy of Code Complete and a book on Java.

Then maybe an nVidia 8800 or 22 inch wide screen.

I don't have a bad word to say about it. People have complained about the built in speakers (as its a TV/Monitor) but I've personally not tried them, and I didn't buy it for the sound anyway

That's a real sweet monitor Karl! Good quality as well. I guess (since you didn't bought it for the sound), you use your own 5.1+ home entertainment system or simply headphones?

Same goes for me. I had a 21" WXUGA screen with speakers but I already had a 6.1 set plus a 5.1 headphone.

Christmas in The Netherlands is mostly having nice diners with your family/friends without getting/giving presents. Presents is more a Santa Claus (5 december) thing. So: nothing. :)

Some very different spins on Christmas, I see.

Maztah and ReSpawN - I can definitely see your points on the whole gift buying stuff. It gets far too silly at Christmas!

CMellor - that sister sounds like she needs a kick up the arse!
