Ide
What IDE do you use ?
For PHP
Infact I don't even really use an "IDE", right now for windows I am using something called e-texteditor which is the closet of a clone to textmate that I can find, but I really fond of my gEdit on Ubuntu at home.

I had used e* and it sucks. The new versions messed up the software.
I currently use Notepad++.

I have to say I really like gEdit as well, super customizable and the syntax highlighting is top notch.

Zend Studio all the way! But for large files it's got to be SCiTE.

Does Dreamweaver actually have any PHP syntax highlighting these days? Or does it still have the little PHP icon that sits on your page, but when you view the source it's just one big chunk of black text. Very unattractive! Although that was back in the Dreamweaver 4 days - when I last used Dreamweaver. And if it does have syntax highlighting these days, how good is it?

Well CS3 has PHP functions so if you enter the function correctly it does change colour so it doesn't display as black text now, but hesitantly it still places a PHP pic on the design view.

WildHoney, that's when I stopped using Dreamweaver
I always found the poorly done syntax highlighting and the annoying little php icon on the page to be kinda annoying

Zend IDE. Although I've some pretty close runners up, unfortunately I don't recall their names.
To the guys still using notepad... is there a reason you're not using an IDE? In case you don't know, your missing out on loadsa nifty little features, such as code completion, syntax highlighting, debugging tools, profilers, etc. :)

Well I'm using TextMate which is about the same as notepad, but the reason why I'm using TextMate instead of an IDE (most of them are available for mac (zend, aptana etc etc.)) is that TextMate just has a great uncluttered way of editing, especially if you compare TM to some of those cluttered IDE's.
And TextMate has a lot of those features you are naming e.g. code completion, syntax highlighting. And it has some features which you can see as debugging tools.

most of the time i use a text editor, vim, but thats because im at work and its quicker for me to work using the linux terminal and just directly edit files(as the machine i use is indeed linux).
Zend is a great IDE although it can be a bit slow at times but it does have nice features, i love the debugging stuff, really useful especially when learning i think because you can slowly step through your code and get an accurate picture of how it all works.
As for Dreamweaver, i used it years ago and it had syntax highlighting (mx i think it was) albeit very primitive.
Tried aptana once, didnt like it as it bugged on my puter, i couldnt select anything from the new project windows etc.

Zend Studio. TextMate for everything else not PHP. If only the Versioning in ZDE would work with external servers. :\
