This time Demonoid.com, one of the best torrent sites, is forced to shut down after the company hosting their site/tracker received multiple threats from the CRIA (Canada's version of the RIAA).

It's a shame :( I was regretting that going down as I've had an account there for 3 to 4 years with lots of gigabytes uploaded and downloaded. A lot of torrents use the Demonoid tracker so naturally the torrent world is in a bit of a turmoil at the moment - especially with Oink a couple of weeks ago as well.

As long as theirs the internet, there will be ways to download anything you want, for free. Shame about Demonoid, but I'm not fussed personally, as I never had the chance to be a member.

Like I said torrents really aint worth it, shit RapidShare does it for me ;). No way to get caught, well theres ways, but you know what I mean :P. Its not monitored, they collect money and ban people who snitches tell on -.-(lil nuubs). Can't trust to many people now a days.

Demonoid was nice because of it's large user base, however I prefer to stick to the more private trackers (yes demonoid was private, but really easy to get in to). More private trackers have overall better quality and faster releases IMO.

I have yet to get involved in anything overly private outside of trackers like Demonoid. Everything was great on there in my opinion.

I didnt really have the need to get into 'OMFG SEKRIT FILE EXCHANGE SITE' type of places being a member of Demonoid and all.

Quite true. Now nowhere to go :( Although a friend did send me an invite to a supposedly awesome torrent site but I've forgotten the link already.

The only differences I usually notice between private trackers and not so much ones are the release times and quality. Which IMO makes all the difference.

I really miss Torrentspy, was my favorite.

All TorrentSpy do now is link out and then spam lots of pornographic material in your face. I'm guessing they can sense they're going to be shut down, so what do they have to lose?

MiniNova has been my replacement for the last while. It's alright, however; I get errors all the time though.
