Confused Install ffmpeg with lame on a shared server.

I have tried just about every link out there to get this installed. I am on a shared server and I am told that I can install this by the hosting company I am using. However, everytime I try nothing works. I get no errors in the log to work with, so I have no idea as to where to head. I am on a Red Hat 9 server per the documentation on my control panel.

Any one have an idea here? Thanks a lot.

I've installed this several times, though I'm not overly familiar with the workings of Linux, even still, I'm afraid to admit. Once you've made the file with the make command and done all that, you go to compile the application - I assume you're that far. I remember FFPEG has quite a few dependencies, but what issue are you having exactly? If any?
