Default Drop down menu in javascript

As simple as this sounds, I can't seem to find any good information on how to do something that could be so, so, so very simple. I am looking to use a drop down from two options, once one is selected from the drop down, I just need it to go to an update.php page with the new posted value that they selected. Is that hard to do!?

Maybe an onclick="window.location='location.ext';" will work or something like that?
