Default Hiding file extensions

I have been searching google for a few days and haven't found anything. I am wanting to hide file extensions on one of my websites. I have seen it done on other sites. I was wanting to make it so it would have the same domain through the entire site which would look like this http://www.example.com no matter what page it looks like this instead of http://www.example.com/example.php ...

Can anyone help please?

I think what you mean is AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript). AJAX involves special functions in JavaScript to load content (usually text, images, html, or more javascript) to change the content of the page.

Why would you want to do that? That will absolutely murder accessibility and SEO.

I also have to say that this is a very bad idea.

Not only is it bad it would mean that you cannot use GET and would have to resort to using POST for everything. Even for links which means a lot of work rewriting all your code if you have an existing website.

If you want to hide file extensions (.php, .gif, .js) then I think there is a way of doing it (may be just for one extension type).
