Default wordpress ping

Hi I am wondering is there anyway to ping another wordpress site and let them know that you have a new post?

I am trying to set up a simple ping that will copy the story from one of my wordpress sites to another.

I only need it to go one way.

I am not sure if I need to make a plugin or if I can use the ping system that wordpress has, can anyone help?

I'm not familiar with the thing called "wordpress" but, you could simply read the RSS feeds that wordpress automatically generates, store the last ID of the post. If the latest entry ID changes you have a new post.

Yes I know ... lol

It is great software indeed but not to my liking, and I was referring to how the "ping" feature works.

Well, I cant use RSS one because it would require me to have a cron job or an SSH script.

Sadly my hosting does not allow ether.

So what I was thinking if I have a plugin that was inside wordpress, that would ping and send the data to another PHP page which I have made on the other server, then it would just copy and paste the data into the DB
