Zend_Tool (Zend_Tool_Project, Zend_Tool_Framework)
 

I've recently been introduced to this component of Zend Framework. I noticed wjgilmore had posted a link to a PDF he had written on the subject, which turned out to be an informative read.

(And also a coincidence because I'd just been looking at it today)

Although I have it running on my LAMP, it's pretty cookie cutter from the documentation, I really don't know how to use it...

I may have to give this a quick bash later on, I'm not usually a framework supporter (favouring my own libs) but I'll give it ago anyway.

I'm mainly a Redhat guy, but I just bought a Mac, well..about 3 weeks ago, and I haven't really been able to use it as a linux machine. I just keep playing with the pretty interfaces...

Cool Redhat, never personally used it very much, we have a few servers at work running it I believe.
Personally I'm more of a Debian guy (more recently Ubuntu, but that's just a bastardised Debian anyway), but that's only because it was the first distro I ever used and the distro that began my love of all things linux:-D
hehe I can spend hours on gnome-look.org looking and testing, granted they don't look as nice or as professional as the mac.

Well Mac does have some minor annoyances that I won't get into. But there are PC ways to do things that are much better than Mac.

I even had to download an application called Steermouse in order to replicate the movement of the mouse cursor to be more like Windows.

One would think that is a trivial issue, but the way the mouse moves on Mac is completely different. Something about the "curve" system that they implement...anyways...that's just some differences...

I don't think I can recall any issues with mouse movement on Redhat....

What I like about redhat/centOS is the commercial support, same with PHP and Zend. So in business, it is a lot easier to drop big names to customers than other OS's..

For example, we tell our customers our systems are using Redhat Enterprise, and they don't even question it...if we said Ubuntu, they would give us weird looks....

I know, it's dumb, but that's business, image is everything...

We all know that practically any form of linux distro can get the job done....

Some people have the same attitude towards Open source and more importantly free projects as a whole, sad but its true.

For most people Free = crappy (must be a reason that its free) and Non-free = good (must be a reason it isn't free), which isn't always the case (I was going to launch into Microsoft bashing, but I probably shouldn't :-D).

Ohh..never assume my friend. My Mac consists of all PC parts other than the Mac itself which is the Mac-mini.

But to answer your question, if I was forced to have to use a one button mac mouse, I would not buy a Mac. My friend just bought the new iMac and the mouse is not ergonomically designed, and the scroll button feels like a nipple...



Agreed, which is why it took so long for busineses to adopt PHP. Now the TREND are these LAMP/WAMP type setups...how hypocritical!!

Sounds like a nice setup, I was contemplating buying a MacBook Air, but decided against it, spending too much money on stuff as it is, not to mention the fact I've only just bought a new laptop :-D.

Right, well after faffing around with recompiling apache (grrrrr kept segfaulting for whatever reason, I didn't bother dumping the core, I couldn't be bothered i just recompiled it and upgraded my php5.2.6 to 5.2.9 which was a right laugh!) I managed to get it done.

It works! well you have to download the framework separately and copy it into the library folder created, but I now have a ZF app running!

Now on to actually using this Behemoth!

So you modified it so that the root document is public and not htdocs right?

yea, well my path is currently /var/www/blogtest/public, where blogtest is the project name.
