i am building a social network and i want to design it in such a way that all of a users frnds are stored in a particular column in a dbase as an array ,and hw do i encrypt and store data in a dbase in such a way that when retrieving the data it is decrypted back to it's original form

You would use serialization.

serialize & db sharding.
