Default OpenSource CMS

Hello my friends!

At my school we have so called free projects which mean that we can do whatever we like and we get points for it. Since i'm 'learning' how to program here, I can choose a nice programming job as free project.

Together with a friend we though it would be fun to create an open source CMS. Of course this has been done a lot of times. But we want to create it a little bit different. More lightweight and easier for the eventual user of the website (which is not always a webdeveloper)

So my question is, do you think there is room for another CMS which focusses on usability but still be powerfull for a webdeveloper? Or do you have other nice idears we can do? (I always wanted to build a good OS gallery system -> see talkPHP project :P)
