Looking for partner(s) for open source framework
I am in the middle of making an open source framework and I was wondering if anyone is willing to help. Its all on Google Code so we wont have to be in contact all of the time so it wont matter what country your from as long as you speak English (Unlike me with my spelling).
It has been built from scratch just by me and I am just looking for some help to make it into a fully working framework. It has all of the basic things done like, controllers, models, plugins, templates, language, data base(simple) and a simple user system. Like I said this is all open source so there will be no pay for this (Unless we make money). So if anyone is willing to help please contact me using one of the following: Quote:

It's almost like an interview this, but two questions.
Why is it you're intent on creating a framework when there are many out there already? Is it purely to learn more about the language you're working with, and so being able to understand all the inner workings? If you are making a framework to build your projects upon, why not use a current framework that is well supported and has much more programmers working on it? As you say, being open-source, it is unlikely to benefit you monetarily. So unless of course the answer to the first question is merely to educate yourself, then surely you'll be better off spending surfeits amount of time programming something which will eventually be profitable. Also I am sure that unless somebody else is in the same boat as you, to educate themselves, then they'll be more willing to contribute if the idea resulted in money rewards. Just food for thought. Best of luck with finding somebody! (If you don't wish to have such a discussion in this thread, as I realise it is off-topic, then please PM me and I will be more than happy to delete this post) |
The real answer is that i was bored and i wanted something to do and I thought why not do something that will teach me a lot (as it has) and be able to have something that i know everything about to use for projects.
I have tried using code igniter and cakephp but for some reason they just are annoying to work with. I cant figure out why, but something about them annoys me. Thanks for reply |
You're definitely right. I found them annoying, too. But then I found Zend Framework. It is a peach! You're right though, undoubtedly, coding something such as a framework will help you a lot, as it did with me when I coded my own a couple of years ago. Until I realised then that using a consistently maintained framework is the key, so I can concentrate on pure ideas. It's a good step though, as I say, and so best of luck :-) !

Ok I will try that now. Thanks for all the help. Any tips for it?
