Default php ide suggestion please

Hi
i was using notepad++ for my coding needs and was happy with that.
As i am practicing my php skills i found that notepad++ is not that powerful. i downloaded komodo edit and used it. it is very good IDE and i like it. but while reading some tutorial i came across debugging section and found that komodo edit does not support debugging. then i searched for IDE with debugger options. now i have 2 choices 1. aptana studio 2. eclipse PDT.

i have already downloaded them both and used them. they are very similar. similar because both evolved from eclipse.
i need help regarding which one is better. i am not knowledgeable enough at this stage to decide myself.

i feel very comfortable working with komodo edit. i have already created some snippets for me in komodo. it is also not very resource hungry as compared to aptana and eclipse.

should i go for aptana or eclipse? i am asking this because once you are used to one ide it is pain when you have to switch to something else. would i have some advantage switching to either one of these?

please help.

thanks

I am using Aptana for my PHP development. I can definitely recommend Aptana. I have not used any of the other IDEs mentioned in your post.

I've used Zend Studio 5.5.0 now for a good 2 years. I absolutely love Zend Studio. I have tried others such as Aptana and Eclipse, but both are just too fancy for my liking.

i checked its features and it has pretty impressive list of features as compared to eclipse PDT.
but it is very expensive.may be i would be able to afford it in near future.

I just downloaded 'Zend Studio for Eclipse' trial and found that it has same interface as eclipse PDT but has many more features. it is 30 days trial so i will be able to check many features which are not in PDT and after 30 days revert to free EclipsePDT

I still love the Zend Studio 5.5, the new 6.1 Eclipse aren't my liking, the 5.5 can run php script without even saving the script!!!

I've never understood why new versions sometimes are downgrades.

I can't speak for any of these IDE's as I am searching for an IDE myself, but sometimes simple is better.

It seems every new version always wants to get fancy...

I've been using an old version of Dreamweaver as well as Ultraedit, they are not IDE's one bit, but I love them.

The new version of Dreamweaver is so bulky I can't stand it..

Newer isn't always better, unfortunately sometimes you are forced to go with newer products depending on the situation..
