Default permissions on *nix
It's been a long time since I had nix running dual boot on my system, and I have no urge at the current time to set this back up again just now, so I'm wondering if anybody out there can help me with a question.
The script I'm working on right now needs to write a configuration file as it's first step, and this is easy enough on Windows. What I'm wondering is when I package this all up, and somebody downloads it onto a *nix box, is it going to be able to write that file in the same directory as easy as it does on Windows? I'm pretty sure default directory permissions are 666, or are they 644? Would it be more prudent to include an empty file as a placeholder and hope it defaults to 666? -m |
