Wouldn't it be awesome if they got hacked? That would mean that there is some serious leakage and most of the old style host would also have to renew there PHP.

Then again, it would be pretty bad. I think the server is simply overloaded.

ReSpawN: If they got hacked, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a leak in PHP, they could get hacked any number of ways.

ReSpawN 01-26-2008 08:50 PM

Yes, I know. It could be simply a leak in their system, not PHP itself. Doesn't bother to speculate though.

Do they keep the manual of PHP in a database? Or..? Flat bed files?

ReSpawN 01-26-2008 11:08 PM

I think database driven. Since there should be a record for the comments to be linked to. ;-)

EyeDentify 01-28-2008 10:05 AM

Couldent they link comments to a flatbed file ?

Assumptions is the mother of all screwups...

Salathe 01-28-2008 11:15 AM

If I remember correctly (I read it on php.net somewhere) the manual at least uses SQLite for performance reasons. An educated guess would lead me along the lines of thinking that perhaps they also use that for their 'main site'.

ReSpawN 01-28-2008 05:28 PM

Well, while we are still wondering about the database structure, if there even is one, PHP is already up and running.

If you need the manual here yah go: RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

I always carry it on my flash drive :).

One thing to bear in mind is the recent attack against LAMP systems, which can somehow down an entire website. I don't know much, but I heard about it recently.

Reading those articles it sounds more like stupid administrators than an actual exploit. Couple of the articles on this have been saying it sounds like ssh passwords have been figured out and that's how they are getting in. Stupid administrators using simple passwords for users or not changing them from their default setting.
