What he said :-)

I've swapped from Zend Studio 5.5 to Zend Studio for Eclipse for the past week or so and now I've figured out the anoyances of Eclipse, it's actually pretty good.

Now, if only I could find away to rip the "Building..." stuff out of it... What are you building exactly Eclipse? IT'S PHP CODE!

Edit: And as for the pencil/paper thing, I often scribble out ideas and class / form designs on paper before I start any coding or real designing :-)

In reply to Orc's post: me. I often start elaborating on an idea by jotting down on paper. I tend to doodle ideas rather than simply describe things in words and the tactile world of graphite and thinly sliced tree work better for me than staring at a computer screen.

That said, as I've noted in other similar topics, the actual writing of PHP usually involves Coda or TextMate (whichever wins the race to open first :-P). However I have on occasion written out whole reams of PHP code onto paper when the juices were flowing but not a keyboard was to be found.

I've been toying with Komodo (an IDE) recently, and Zend too, but I've never really felt comfortable with IDEs with their bells and whilstles.

Always Notepad2.

RobertK 01-20-2008 08:29 PM

ConTEXT or phpDesigner Pro, as I said in the other thread.

sjaq 01-20-2008 08:59 PM

TextMate, it's the easiest..

Frontpage? What the f***?! Who in their right mind would use that?
:-D

I am more of a notepad variant user with some minor Dreamweaver encounters...

buggabill: beware, you're crossing the line there. Do you really want frontpage users to go cry and then commit suicide? Because that is really offensive and shouldn't be allowed. Therefore, let's censor your language just to be on the safe side.

Note: this is an ironic post, in reply to this forum's admin decision to censor my feelings (my I-dont-give-a-crap feelings, to be more exact) regarding an asteroid which will probably hit the earth because I pissed him off by saying I didn't give a fuck. Sorry, asteroid, you know where you can find me. I'll be in my room, developing my non-fascist website.

RobertK 01-21-2008 08:21 PM

Xenon, it isn't fascism to ask you to express yourself politely, that's known as "common" courtesy. Something you apparently lack.

I do diagram with paper and pencil though, as it is quite rapid, easy to fix typos, and persists even when there are power outages. :-D

Alan @ CIT 01-21-2008 08:24 PM

Xenon, it has nothing to do with your views, it's to do with your language. Why do you need to swear in your posts on a PHP forum? Just bear in mind that children do visit this forum as well and as Robert mentioned, it's just common courtesy to watch you language when posting.

Alan.

xenon 01-21-2008 08:48 PM

Robert, I just said I'll be developing a non-fascist website. I didn't point at someone and said "hey, there's a fascist". So, it's pretty obvious that I'm not lacking anything, but perhaps a cup of coffee.

Alan: I'm swearing because I can and because it makes me look cool in the mortal's eyes 8-) About the kids...really, who is that stupid to copy someone because they're "talking dirty"? Oh, wait, the kids! I really don't give a **** about kids, and you know why? Because they're annoying, grosse and most of all, stupid (did I just censor myself?). Anyway, stop fueling this, as I can go on expressing myself (aka be rude) all day long. And you'll be blaming ME for acting...well...myself.

@All: I apologize for the language. I was not being intentionally disrespectful. I was just really editing/reposting what the OP had. I have edited my original post to fix my end. The only thing I cannot and will not censor is the word "Frontpage". :-P

sarmenhb 01-21-2008 10:10 PM
