About phpDesigner 2008
I saw that some ppl around use this piece of software. I gave it a try some time ago, but didn't fit my style, plus it had ALOT of options, but it was kinda hard to use. Now, why is this so good (better than Eclipse, for example, which has a rather straightforward interface and is more extensible)?

I love phpDesigner2008. I turned moest of the options off since I hate it when the program finishes my sentences. Even in real-life. Next to that, it's awesome.
This is what I made today. :) For on the office pinboard.

Nothing beats Textmate in my opinion.
Such a simple interface and so much power and flexibility under the hood.
Look at all those buttons, they eat screen area.

I third that.
My setup: using the SVNMate plugin and monokai as theme.
Textmate is also great for taking notes in class and Ruby, HTML, CSS and more. Instead of using 100 different IDE's for each language..

To be honest, please do a little bit of research before you start chewing off it's ass Geert. :) You can disable EVERYTHING you see in that window. Even the File, Edit, Find ect. bar can be disabled. :)
Plus, MAC?! ... we should make a hate topic for macs.

I downloaded the trial version of Zend Studio few days ago for Linux and wasn't impressed at all. The functionality may be there, but the UI looks absolutely terrible.
And I must add that I'm very jealous of TextMate.
I wish Linux had it.

If you switch to windows, you can use e-texteditor.
It is getting improved, every version.
If you like it, I can give you license key.
I have multiple PCs license.

I do use Windows quite a bit depending on task I've been given.
So you're saying you have spare license keys?

No, I have one license key. It can be used on multiple computers legally.
AFAIK, the developer of e* had started porting the application to linux. Reference

We could just simply make a poll out of this one.

If you wouldn't mind giving me a key. I'd gladly take it off your hands.
Now that I think about it, I have tried e few months ago, but I had a really old computer at work. So needless to say, I didnt' have the best experience with it.

Can you use the trial for now until you're really sure that you'll use it after 30 days.

As on OS X user I have used a slew of text editors (SubEathaEdit and TextMate being my favorites), as well as Eclipse and a handful of others ... in the end I have settled (at least for the moment) on Panic's Coda.
Very nice total site management tool with PHP code completion and built in reference books for PHP, CSS, JavaScript and HTML ... not to mention multi-user document editing (via Bonjour), FTP, live previewing and shell command access.
Best of all the interface is uncluttered and easy to use.

for a text editor you cant beat vim (well gVim in this case) its simple (once you get your head around the commands) and highly configurable, for IDE i tend to use Zend.
and as for Mac, well i wont get started on it, otherwise i'll stress myself out. I will say that i hate mac's with a passion, i find them unbearably annoying (as i do vista), i wont say what i really think of macs because, A: it will contain swearing, and B: i dont want to offend any mac users.

You're just like me. If thats good or not, I don't care.
Anyways, your version of the texteditor looks pretty nice. 'Nightvision' stylish. Like it.

haha, its probably a bad thing . I tend to class mac's as being homosexual (not the user, the machine), dont ask why, its probably because i find the masterful and completely pointless animations and sounds annoy me, hence y i hate vista so much but thats a rant for another day (and when i say 'so much' i really do mean fanatically much). I guess im just a miserable old fart.
anyway the colorscheme for gvim there is called 'wombat' if any1 is interested, took me ages to find a style that i liked
