Google and www.talkphp.com
Is it just me, or anybody else cant see if the www.talkphp.com is listed in google or not
i tried site:www.talkphp.com http://www.google.ca/search?hs=YQp&h...G=Search&meta= and it returned nothing, and i have seen Google spidering here many times, strange Edit: at the time or writing, 5 Google spiders are spidering www.talkphp.com |
When you first start up a site you are placed into the "Google Sandbox." What this means is that it takes a little bit of time before you show up in google.
If you add a space you'll find a few results... Try this: site: www.talkphp.com http://www.google.com/search?client=...=Google+Search |
i see, you learn new things everyday, but still to my surprise, my site www.rattanpal.com was creted a long time after this site, its in the google. and it has alsmost nothing on it.
that raised my concern, that if my site which is just practically nothing can be there, why not www.talkphp.com, sounds interesting and sure Google is unpredicatable Edit: thanks Ryan, i dint know that part about Google, ofcourse i still don tknow much about it |
Just noticed Ryan, thats not the pages from www.talkphp.com, right???
its the same as saying "www.talkphp.com" in google, , means find the exact word so, it means its still not listed in Google, now that is surprising |
Although you have made it on to MSN ,lycos, altavista, Yahoo and Ask Jeeves
I wonder why goole is having trouble? |
It's possible that the domain could be placed in google's bad list. I should probably check on that. I'll do that this afternoon.
|
Although at a look at your source I see your meta tags might need some personalizing as currently they seem to be in favour of vBulliten and not talkphp.com
|
To be honest google very little if at uses meta tags. So that would not help really.
|
Does yahoo make more use of meta tags?
Although I am sure it wouldnt hurt to change them if you can be bothered, but surely having a meta description of the page telling people to go to vbulletin.com cant be healthy. I do agree that meta tags wont really help in google but do you still get those meta tag search engines? Edit: I found VRoosh which uses the meta tag description. |
Yes, it won't hurt and once I get off work tonight I'll change them. I'll also look to see if we have a bad reputation with google because of a past owner of the domain or something along those lines.
Some search engines still use meta tags but the large ones such as msn, yahoo and google do not. |
i dont see any robots.txt file on your root, you might wanan put one there, as Google like it, and you are right, Google dont care about meta tags
but still some keywords and a good description helps sometime, may be not for Google but for others, so you might wana change it to favor you and this Google simulator might help you, http://gritechnologies.com/tools/spi...ww.talkphp.com i compared it with sitepoint http://gritechnologies.com/tools/spi...t.com%2Fforums not much of diffrence, just some headers(a few), but not much, so i still wonder why, yeah you check that blacklist thingy, but as i noticed yesterday 5 Google spiders deep crawling the same time this website, and still no sgn in google, an di see those crawlers many times thats why i was wondering why?? |
Made it to google
http://www.google.ca/search?q=site%3...en-US:official |
Although
http://www.google.ca/search?hs=iLS&h...=talkphp&meta= Shows what I said before where google has taken the description of the meta description tag and used it in the description field of google. I hope this gives you more of a reason to change the meta tags to something more relavant to the site. But I dont know if you have a small rank but when you simply add a space between talk and php like this: http://www.google.ca/search?hs=CMS&h...talk+php&meta= This simply space means you are no longer seen. Instead you get phptalk.com where you could lose some traffic through. Maybe it just takes time to increase the rank value as I am no google expert. |
that is sure abou tranking, and it'll take time,
but meta tags should be changed i think, at least to represent the talkphp not vBulletin |
Google's real big on using .xml sitemap files now for those interested... you can find out about it here:
https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/login I still haven't tried it out - but I will this weekend... I have no problems with getting google to crawl my sites - but Yahoo is on there like crazy... |
